The Calling

It really is very simple: Jesus died for us, so we are dead to our own lives. He bought us off the slave market of sin with His own blood to free us from the tyranny of the devil and the power of sin so we could be His children and servants. We owe Him everything we have and everything we are. Galatians 2:20 says, "My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (NLT)

Genuine Christianity is such that from the moment Jesus gets into you everything changes. As you know and serve Him you are continuously transformed. You begin to think like He thinks, feel like He feels, and see as He sees. It's normal that you begin to take on His burden for the lost. It's not an outrageous thing to seek to somehow take on His command to "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation...make disciples of all nations..." (Mark 16; Matt 28). Since this command, and others like it, was given to a community of His disciples, it follows then that fulfilling it means we must be in vital fellowship with a community of like-minded believers. We must be disciples with other disciples. That's where the local church comes in.

God brought Steve and Shirley to Tucson to be part of The Door Christian Fellowship Church. It is there, under the loving ministry of pastor Harold Warner, that they received their calling and equipping to fulfill the call of God on their lives. Through years of discipleship training by way of involvement and impartation, God has been crafting Steve & Shirley to do the work He's called them to in the nations of the world. Ever a work in progress, they look eagerly to nurture the vision of reaching the lost for Jesus Christ.
